The Daughters of the Virgin Mother joined in the festivities of Charlotte’s annual Eucharistic Congress, featuring this year’s theme “My Soul Magnifies the Lord.” The Congress began on the evening of Friday, September 8th (the feast of Our Lady’s Birthday) with Byzantine vespers, a Eucharistic procession, a talk by Father  Jeff Kirby, and a special track for college students. Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament was exposed in Saint Peter’s Church throughout the night for Adoration, leading up to a Eucharistic procession through the streets of Charlotte the next morning.  The Daughters were honored to walk in the procession alongside female Religious of various communities from across the United States and abroad.

Saturday highlights also included special Congress tracks for middle schoolers, high schoolers, and the Spanish-speaking community; opportunities for Adoration and the sacrament of Confession; talks by Sr. John Dominic and Sr. Mary Thomas More, OP,  Dr. Mario Enzler, Anthony Digmann, and Fr. José Luis Serrano, and numerous other speakers; and countless vendors and booths showcasing Catholic communities, apostolates, products, and resources.

The Eucharistic Congress culminated in the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass by Bishop Jugis and the priests of our Diocesan home.
